The Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has decried the emotions and sentiments with which the anti-LGBTQI+ discourse is being held.
Speaking in an interview with Evans Mensah on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Friday, he said the emotions and sentiments are unnecessary,
According to the majority leader, the threats being issued by various stakeholders will not resolve the matter at hand.
“…people saying that they’ll chase members of Parliament with… It is unnecessary. Someone said that, we should telecast the discourse so they would know who voted against it…it means the people, some of them, they are not even following the conduct of business in parliament.”
He therefore advised that, instead of threats, feasible suggestions on the way forward should be offered.
Meanwhile, when Parliament resumes from recess on the 26th of October, the House would be expected to deliberate and vote on an impending bill that seeks to criminalise LGBTQ in Ghana.
The decision of Parliament is expected to bring finality to the raging debate about the legalisation or otherwise of LGBTQI+ in Ghana.
