The North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has appealed to government to honour its financial obligation to beneficiaries and trainees of the Nation Builders’ Corps (NABCO).
In a Twitter post on Sunday, the former Deputy Education Minister said government has failed to pay the beneficiaries their due remittances since September this year.
This follows his donation of food items to some 97 NABCO trainees in the constituency during the Christmas festivities.

On Friday, December 10, 2021, some individuals who claimed to be NABCO beneficiaries took to social media with concerns regarding their unpaid allowances.
They said allowance for the past three months had not been paid; therefore, calling on President Akufo-Addo and the relevant stakeholders to intervene.
The Twitter users said life has been unbearable since they cannot cater to domestic and family needs.
It was against this reason that Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa chose to fete the NABCO trainees in his constituency.
“As is the essence of Christmas, I reached out to all 97 NABCO staff in my beloved constituency who have not been paid since September. They all received modest provisions, including bags of rice, oil and canned fish.
“In addition, each one of them had a direct cash transfer to their MoMo accounts. I humbly appeal to government to redeem its obligations to all NABCO trainees,” he urged.
According to him, “this intervention is quite similar to what we did for over 600 private school teachers during the COVID-19 induced school closures.”
The Akufo-Addo-led administration introduced NABCO in 2017 as part of measures to address graduate unemployment in the country.
The initiative was run under seven modules, namely; Educate Ghana, Heal Ghana, Feed Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Digitise Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, and Civic Ghana.
