Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, says he draws inspiration from Psalm 118:22, highlighting the biblical verse as a source of strength and resilience for Ghanaians.
Speaking at the National Thanksgiving Service held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Sunday, February 15, he used the verse to emphasise the importance of perseverance, unity, and healing in the nation’s post-election period.
“I am strengthened and inspired by Psalm 118:22, which tells us that a stone that the builders reject has become the cornerstone,” he said.
The former Vice President urged Ghanaians to forgive one another for past disagreements, saying the act of reconciliation is a key step toward national progress.
“Though the exercise of healing isn’t completed yet, we have started well, and I commend all patriots for the steps taken so far,” he added.
Dr Bawumia also thanked church leaders, particularly those from charismatic congregations, for their prayers and guidance, which he said had contributed to a peaceful electoral process.
“We are encouraged that going forward, we can continue to count on their constant prayers,” he added.
