Silky-voiced Ghanaian songstress Dela Muzique says reality shows in Ghana are not well-structured.
She made this assertion in an interview with Andy Dosty on the Daybreak Hitz Show after she was asked why she failed to win Mentor 3 way back in 2007.
The Odo singer revealed that the structure of the show made it difficult for best talents to win because it was always based on the number of votes a contestant could accrue in a certain week. In that case, the talent of the contestant is not a priority.
"I couldn't win because of the way the program was designed; the best talent never wins. It all boils down to the number of votes you are able to accrue in a certain week. Your talent in that case is not a top priority. So you always have the upper hand once you have a lot of people voting for you", she said.
Asked about the prospects of music reality shows in Ghana, she said they were great platforms for discovering music talents with with great potential. She indicated that through such platforms, raw talents can come in and grow.
She reserved praises for MTN Hitmaker for capturing this concept and making good use of it as it has contributed to alot of A-List artistes in the country.
"I think these reality shows should be structured in a way that people come in; that is raw talents come in and grow on the show and reap the benefits of that growth such that even if you don't win there is a potential for you or there is an opportunity for you in the music industry, opportunity made accessible by the organizers of those shows and one team that has done that very well and I always commend them is the Hitmaker and that concept has birthed alot of A-List artistes in Ghana and that is the way to go. Do not use them for your viewership and leave them when the lights go off", she stressed.
The singer is now out with a new single titled "Pour Some Sugar" which is currently enjoying airplay and doing well on streaming platforms as well.
