A total of 290 freshmen on Friday were matriculated into various departments at the EP College of Education, Amedzope in the Ho West District of the Volta Region.
The figure for the 2021/2022 admission is made up of 165 males and 125 females representing 56.90% and 43.10% respectively.
The College Principal, Dr Dickson Tsey, noted that in an attempt to be fair and achieve a regional balance of students, Management for the second time running admitted qualified applicants from 11 out of the 16 regions of the country for the 2021/2022 academic year.

The agenda, according to Dr Dickson Tsey, is to provide the college with the opportunity to learn from diverse cultures and beliefs. Out of the total, 270 of the students are from the Christian community representing 93 .10 % whiles 20 are Muslims, representing 6.90%.
Dr Dickson Tsey announced that the College’s Council has given the approval for the establishment of a scholarship scheme aimed at motivating students to aspire to higher academic performance.
"I am happy to inform you that this scholarship scheme shall commence this academic year and all students are encouraged to put in their very best in order to benefit from the scheme," he said.

In line with efforts to support government's agenda of training more qualified professional teachers for the preschools in the country, the College is preparing a 4-year early childhood education programme to fully take off in 2022/2023 academic year after endorsement by Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
"Currently, 23 students made up of 9 males and 14 females have expressed interest in the programme and are expected to start specialisation in this area in the next academic year," Dr Dickson Tsey added.
Dr Tsey also commended the staff for their immense support towards the growth of the college. Again, he lauded the District Education Directorate for their tireless efforts towards effective teaching.

On her part, the Ho West District Director of Education, Mrs Celestine S. A. Korsi Agordor, admonished the freshmen to take their studies seriously.
Meanwhile, the EP College of Education, Amedzope is celebrating its 75th anniversary. The celebration is slated for April 30. It is with the aim of raising enough funds for infrastructural development on campus.
