At least 30 students of the Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi were hospitalised following a clash between them and crowd-control police.
The irate students had hit the streets to protest crashes of pedestrians by vehicles in front of their school.
The crashes involved some students and teachers of the school.
Hundreds of parents besieged the school premises in an attempt to see their wards following news of the police-student clash.
But they were left disappointed as the police denied them access.
They raised concerns over the school authority’s handling of the matter and threatened to take action against them.
Subsequently, some top police officers in the jurisdiction were interdicted, including the Deputy Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kwasi Akomeah-Apraku.
He was acting as the Ashanti Regional Police Commander at the time of the chaos.
Two other police officers have been interdicted to allow for investigations to take place.
Also, the Ghana Highways Authority started work on Monday to repair defective bridges on the Accra-Tema motorway.
In the process, many motorists had to endure heavy vehicular traffic on the route. Some drivers in an interview with JoyNews said the situation will have dire consequences on their activities.
As promised, on Friday, June 17, the road was finally re-opened.
