Fafraha Community SHS defied the odds to book its place in the One-Eighth Stage of the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), overcoming a spirited challenge from Awudome SHS and Ejisuman SHS at the SMS Auditorium.
For a school only 10 years old and operating as a day institution, reaching this stage of the competition is no small feat. Yet Fafraha Community SHS continues to prove that age and school structure are no barriers to competing on the national stage.
The school made its intentions clear from the opening round, taking an early lead with 17 points, ahead of Awudome SHS on 14 points and Ejisuman SHS on 8 points.
Fafraha then extended its advantage in Round Two, moving to 30 points, while Awudome remained on 14 points and Ejisuman dropped to one.
But Awudome refused to go down without a fight. The school mounted a strong comeback in Round Three, moving to 21 points, before pushing further to 31 points in Round Four.
Fafraha, however, maintained its composure under pressure, moving from 34 points in Round Three to 38 points in Round Four.
The final round saw Fafraha seal the contest with 44 points, while Awudome finished on 34 points and Ejisuman SHS on 10 points.

Despite the challenge, Fafraha’s strong start and consistency throughout the contest proved decisive.
The victory sends the 10-year-old day school into the One-Eighth Stage, adding another significant chapter to its growing NSMQ journey.
