Although a power plant is available for use by students in times of power outage, students at the Department of Land Economy of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology are not able to access it.
This is because the Department is cut off from electricity supply.
The 1996 year group of the Department has therefore intervened by donating GHC30,000 for the necessary cabling and installation.
“The plant has enough power but the Department is connected by way of cabling and installation.
“Our obligation was to find a way to connect the Department to the plant so that whenever there’s a power outage, and the plant is running, the Department can easily get power,” said the leader of the group, Dominic Barimah, Head of General Services, ARB Apex Bank.

The Dean of faculty of Built Environment, Prof. Samuel Amos-Abanyie was grateful to the alumni for the gesture and called on other year groups to help in developing both infrastructural and human resources at the Department.
“We would call on other year groups to come and not only donate but also to share their experiences,” he said.
The Senior Assistant Registrar at the Advancement and Alumni Relations Office, James Oberko noted the dynamism in the world of work.
He therefore welcomed opportunities from the alumni to enrich the students’ knowledge and experience.
“With several years of experience on the field, I’m sure things are changing which you may want to impart to the students.
