The Board of Trustees for the Ferdinand Ayim Foundation have called on well meaning Ghanaians to support the Foundation to help keep the memory of the late Tourism Minister’s Special Assistant alive.The Foundation was set up last year in memory of Ferdinand Ayim after he died through a motor accident during preparations for last year’s Paragliding Festival.Speaking to Joy News, the Editor-in-Chief of The Statesman newspaper, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, who is also a member of the Ferdinand Ayim Foundation, said though this year’s Paragliding Festival is named after Mr. Ayim, the Foundation needs money to undertake other activities that will keep his memory in the minds of the public.Mr. Otchere-Darko said nonetheless, the Foundation is keeping faith with its objectives of ensuring that the dependants of Mr. Ayim; his wife and four children are looked after.He said while seeking to do more to attract funds, the Foundation is currently contributing to the education of the children and has also acquired a bakery for the wife.On May 18, 2007, the Foundation plans a public lecture at the British Council Hall in his memory, while it intends to institute a journalism award also in his name at the Ghana Institute of Journalism.
