A digital marketer, Edward Asare says consistency is key to establishing a good brand presence on social media.

According to him, regularly posting content on social media platforms helps to draw the audience's attention to products and services offered by a brand.

“The people who are patient enough to post consistently and market their goods are the ones who reap in the long term.

“Look at any business that is doing so well on social media and you will notice that these people have been consistent with the way they do their business,” he said.

Speaking on Master Class on JoyFM, he noted that “it is better to post once a day than posting seven times and going to rest for six days.”

He explained that people follow brands on social media for different reasons, and consistency tells the audience and potential clientele that the brand will always supply goods and services.

The digital marketer stressed that it is important for a business to have presence on all social media platforms.

This, he said prevents fraudsters from impersonating their business on other social media platforms.

“Some businesses that are doing so well on Instagram, do not have a presence on Twitter. So somebody somewhere will now pick your business details and go and establish your presence on Twitter as well, and scam people from the hard-earned audiences that you have created on Instagram,” he said.

Mr Asare stressed that although it is important to post regularly, only quality content must be uploaded.

He backed his claim with the point that people will always follow a brand for different reasons, therefore it is important that a brand controls how audiences perceive them.

The digital marketer added that, quality content is advantageous as it helps to attract the needed following.

He said although following was an important feature for businesses, it should not be the focus to the detriment of quality content.

“Content is what actually runs the pages, some people think it's followers but no it's not. In the initial stages, if you are worrying yourself over followers you will run out of business,” he said.

Finally, he advised brands not to be too “salesy” but must try to incorporate entertainment in their pieces and add a bit more information to products or services.
