St. Louis Senior High School has made a grandiose entry into the national tournament of the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
The ladies from Louisville are entering the competition as the highest-scoring all-female school in the regional qualifiers of the competition.
They qualified for the preliminary stage with 65 points after beating an all-boys competition from Jachie Pramso SHS, Ejisu SHTS, and Agogo State College.
The contestants outrun their closest contender, Ejisu SHTS by a 38-point gap followed keenly by Jachie Pramso SHS and Agogo State College who secured 26 and 25 points respectively.
In the highly anticipated contest, the first round smacked of stiff opposition from the boys of Jachie Pramso SHS, who trailed the girls with only 3 points.
But the composed ladies showcased their speed and accuracy in the second round, swiftly answering questions thrown at all schools to extend their lead by 25 points at the end of the round.
They proceeded to demonstrate their indomitable academic prowess in the third round answering almost all their questions correctly to cement their determination of breaking the wing of any school they may cross paths with.
The girls from St. Louis SHS are resolved to clinch the regional championship after winning the Ashanti regional inter-school zonal sports competition.
They are optimistic about becoming the first female school to lift the NSMQ trophy and break the jinx of females not overpowering the opposite gender in the all-male-dominated competition.
Meanwhile, their neighbors - KNUST SHS also stun the audience and their contenders after scoring 63 points to secure a slot at the national championship.
They beat their contender Collins SHS, Manso Adubia SHS, and Presby SHS - Bompata by a 39-point margin.
