Oriens School Complex, a basic school at American Farm, Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality has celebrated its 10th anniversary along with the school’s annual graduation ceremony and Speech and Prize Giving Day.
The colourful ceremony saw splendid performances by the students, from poetry recitals to cultural dances, to gymnastics display, art and craft works, choreography, drama, Taekwondo and many other thrilling performances which excited guests, mainly parents and teachers.

Speaking during the programme the Ga South Municipal Director of Education, Henry Ayetse, advocated for more promotion of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) education in schools to facilitate learning.
He also called for innovation and dynamism in the impartation of great engineering skills to develop the country.

According to him, there are nine circuits in the Ga South Municipality and they have sent officers to all the circuits to educate students on the urgency and need for STEM education, as well as its benefits so that interested students in Science-related courses can have options during the selection of schools to study and apply the knowledge acquired in bringing up innovative ideas to develop the country.

The Oriens school Complex was established in 2013 with 4 pupils and now has a total of 411 with 211 boys and 200 girls.
The school has three departments, Pre-school, Primary and Junior High School, and also boasts branches at Adenta and Spintex.

In his report, the headmaster of the school, Mr Maclean .Y.K Mensah gave an assurance that the School has adequate facilities most suitable for academic work and therefore parents should bring their kids to the school.
Backing his claim Mr Mensah disclosed that one of the students representing Presec in the 2023 edition of the National Science and Math Quiz graduated from his school.

He said that last year, 21 students who took part in the Basic Education Certificate Examination broke records as 6 students had between aggregate 06 – 09, 11 students had between aggregate 10 – 12.
He further stated that Oriens complex school in conjunction with Smart Kids Abacus is training the mental faculties of children between the ages of 5-14 years.

The school has another partnership with Experts Martial Arts to train children between the ages of 4 to 16 years in Taekwondo which he explained is a sport and art of self-defense that boosts mental health.
An anniversary cake was cut to climax the anniversary.
