The Local Organising Committee (LOC), for the African Games 2023, as part of its build-up to the event next year, will hit the streets of Takoradi with a carnival on Christmas day.
The event, scheduled for Monday, December 25, 2023, is meant to create awareness ahead of the competition slated for March 8, 2024.
The LOC earlier organised a float at the Accra Sports Stadium, which was a success, and has decided to tour various regions to whip interest in the games, their next stop will be the Western Region where the Christmas celebration is on a different echelon.
Led by the LOC Chairman, Dr Ofosu Asare, the carnival will be graced by sports personalities who have flown high the flag of Ghana in the past.
Officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, heads of various sporting federations, and government officials are also expected to be part of the carnival to educate the attendees on the need to not just be a part of the competition next year, but also patronise it.
Activities such as Darts, Arm wrestling, Table Tennis, and other sporting activities have been lined up as part of the carnival.
Souvenirs will be will be distributed as well.
There will be a brass band, too.
The African Games will start on 8th March 2024.
