Founder and leader of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has announced that in the upcoming 2024 election, he will contest the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) municipality.
This follows what he describes as the agitation by people who have asked whether he intends to contest for the office of president in the December polls.
In a Facebook post on January 11, he stated that his decision to contest the position is to provide good infrastructure, create jobs and education for all as well help improve the quality of healthcare delivery in the municipality.
"The Position I want to be elected to Serve in
"This is for those who have been agitating to get me to join the 2024 Presidential race, note this.
"What I want, is the opportunity to contest in an election to become the Chief Executive of Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem municipality
"I want to show our people in practical terms how to administer an area for the benefit of the citizens. Clean environment, good infrastructure, jobs, education for all, quality healthcare etc,” the post read.
From 2005 to 2009, Dr Nduom served as Member of Parliament for Komenda from January on the ticket of the Convention People's Party (CPP).
In 2008, he contested the office of president. However, in the next polls in 2012, he broke away form the party to form PPP where he contested the presidency in 2012 and 2016.
However, in 2020, Brigette Dzogbenuku led the PPP to the presidential election and Dr Nduom has been missing from the political landscape since.
