About 20 delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Manhyia North constituency are living in fear after allegedly taking money from a parliamentary aspirant but voted against him in the party's primaries.
The unsuccessful parliamentary aspirant, Richard Osei Bamfo, has reportedly threatened to 'curse' the delegates, causing fear among them.
According to the delegates, they received between GH¢1,000 and GH¢2,000 from Richard Osei Bamfo to facilitate their transportation fee.
According to reports, Mr Bamfo is demanding that the delegates return the money they received, coupled with his threat to 'curse' them.
“There is someone called Nana Poku saying that anyone who received money from Nana Osei Bamfo but refused to vote for him has been sent to Antoa and has been given three days.
"We do not understand and need clarification. The money we received was not to influence us to vote for him. If he wants his money, he should come because we are waiting for him.”
The secretary at the GES polling station at Manhyia North, Evans Adu Gyamfi said the delegates cannot afford to refund the money to Mr. Bamfo.
According to him, Mr. Bamfo would not be able to identify the delegates who voted for him and those who did not cast their vote for him.
“You have gotten 15 and now complaining that it’s too small so you are taking back your money. He doesn’t know anything. Can he identify that this man voted for him or Collins or the other candidate? As for the money he is not going to get it because we have used it.”
