JoyNews, in collaboration with IMANI Africa, held a national dialogue on Ghana’s plastic waste management, focusing on the sustainability of the country’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework.
The dialogue brought together key stakeholders, including experts from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), policymakers, representatives of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), and other industry players, to examine challenges surrounding plastic waste management and explore sustainable solutions.

The dialogue provided a platform for stakeholders to assess existing policies, identify gaps in implementation, and discuss practical measures to improve plastic waste management in Ghana.

Participants also discussed the need for stronger collaboration among government agencies, producers, importers, industry players, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the EPR framework.

The engagement formed part of efforts to address Ghana’s growing plastic waste challenge and promote more sustainable approaches to the management of plastic products and packaging throughout their lifecycle.
