Offiong Edem has won Nigeria's first medal at the ongoing 2023 African Games after securing bronze in the women's table tennis singles.
Edem, a five-time African Games gold medalist in the women's singles, secured bronze despite losing Tuesday's semi-final.
Edem lost to Egypt's Dina Meshref in four straight sets.
"It was a quality contest, and I respect Dina Meshref. I have no regrets because I have been at the highest level for twenty years. I've got the medals too," she told Joy Sports.
Winning bronze at the Accra 2023 African Games takes Edem's total medal haul for the African Games to nine; two bronze, two silver, and five gold medals.
"I feel fulfilled. I have accomplished enough. To be competitive while doing this on a part-time basis itself is wonderful," she told Joy Sports.
