Some women at Ewusiejoe in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region have resorted to the use of Aluminium Sulfate, commonly known as Alum, to purify polluted water by illegal miners for domestic use.
Aside from the hidden health dangers posed by the chemical, women and children in the town show skin irritations contracted after bathing with the water.

As part of JoyNews series on the effects of galamsey, we take you to Ewusiejoe where the Butre River, the main source of water for the people, has been polluted by illegal miners.
