The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) has praised the Electoral Commission (EC) and its Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, for successfully organising the 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections.
In their statement issued on December 11, the Bishops highlighted the professionalism, transparency, and efficiency demonstrated by the EC, despite the challenges associated with electoral processes in any democracy.
"We, the members of the Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference (GCBC), extend our heartfelt
congratulations to Mrs. Jean Mensa, the Electoral Commissioner of Ghana, and the entire Electoral
Commission (EC) for the successful administration of the 2024 parliamentary and presidential
elections," portions of the statement noted.
The GCBC also recognised the EC’s collaboration with stakeholders, including political parties, security agencies, and civil society organizations, which ensured a peaceful and transparent process. They added that the elections reflected “the will of the people.”
The GCBC also called for continued peace and unity, urging stakeholders to work together for national development.
“We pray for continued peace and stability in our nation and encourage all stakeholders to uphold the spirit of unity and cooperation for the benefit of all Ghanaians."
