The running mate for the Movement for Change in the 2024 election, Kwame Owusu Danso, has indicated that the departure of Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen from the New Patriotic Party has been a curse.
He says the decision of former President Akufo-Addo to choose Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over Alan Kyerematen was a curse to the New Patriotic Party, which caused the party's defeat in the 2024 general elections.
"The NPP did not just lose the 2024 election; the party was cursed by the actions of Nana Addo failing to honor his promises to Alan," he told Nhyira FM.
According to Mr. Danso, the former President made a promise to make Alan Kyerematen the next flagbearer of the NPP after his tenure as President, but eventually disappointed him.
"Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen agreed to allow Nana Addo to lead the party to the presidency and hand over the flagbearer position to Alan. Nana Addo failed to honor that promise by choosing and supporting Bawumia against Alan. This is painful and caused Alan to leave the party," he said.
Mr. Danso entreated Ghanaians to exercise patience while the new government puts in measures to restore hope in the economy, which he said has been damaged over the past eight years.
"The economy has been destroyed for eight years, and a building that has been collapsed for eight years cannot be rebuilt in a few months. I urge all Ghanaians to have patience," Mr. Danso indicated.
He further indicated that the Movement for Change has come to stay and will become a political party that will bring change to Ghana.
