Acclaimed Ghanaian movie director and filmmaker Lloyd Aboagye is set to release his latest project, Kone (Bonds of Friendship) — a poignant drama that delves into the complexities of loyalty, honesty, and the true essence of companionship.
Filmed in the scenic coastal town of Prampram, the production is backed by Ninth November Films and brings together a talented ensemble cast. It promises a story rich in emotion and cultural resonance.

The film boasts an impressive lineup of Ghanaian talent, including Eddie Nartey, Amanda Jissih, Kwesi Sarkodie Ofori, Ella Asante, Lord Bentus, and Lydia Baeta, alongside other notable actors.
Written and directed by Aboagye and produced by Ella Asante, Kone follows two young friends whose discovery of a mysterious 20 Ghana cedi note ignites a fierce dispute, testing the limits of their bond.

The logline sets the stage: “Two young friends discover a mysterious GH₵20 note, sparking a heated dispute that tests their bond, while Nyanyo, the god of friendship, seeks guidance from a higher power to confront Kone — the wanderer who tests the true meaning of friendship.”
The synopsis introduces Kone, a cryptic figure who roams the Earth, challenging the resilience of human relationships. When the two friends stumble upon the 20 Ghana cedi note in Prampram, Kone’s influence stirs a conflict that threatens to fracture their bond. As tensions rise, the story unfolds into a powerful lesson on sharing, integrity, and the values that define genuine connection.
Overseeing this earthly drama is Nyanyo, the god of friendship, tasked with guiding humanity toward meaningful bonds. Frustrated by Kone’s persistent trials, Nyanyo seeks wisdom from a supreme being to restore harmony and counter the wanderer’s disruptions.

This blend of grounded storytelling and spiritual intrigue, set against the vibrant backdrop of Prampram, elevates Kone into a unique cinematic experience.
Aboagye, a Ghanaian-Italian filmmaker known for award-winning works such as Newsman and Portraits — the latter of which received acclaim at the 2023 Black Star International Film Festival — continues to showcase his knack for merging moral depth with compelling narratives.
The choice of Prampram as the filming location adds an authentic coastal flavor to the production, grounding the story in a distinctly Ghanaian setting.

With a cast featuring seasoned performers like Eddie Nartey and Amanda Jissih, alongside rising stars such as Ella Asante and Kwesi Sarkodie Ofori, Kone (Bonds of Friendship) is poised to captivate audiences.
The chemistry of the ensemble, combined with Lloyd Aboagye’s visionary direction, promises a film that will resonate both locally and beyond Ghana’s borders.
While a release date has yet to be confirmed, excitement is mounting for this drama that intertwines universal themes with Ghanaian storytelling traditions.
As production progresses in Prampram, fans of Aboagye’s work eagerly await a film set to be as thought-provoking as it is entertaining. The renowned filmmaker urges movie lovers to keep an eye out for further updates on this promising addition to Ghana’s cinematic landscape.
