Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has announced her intention to return the money given to her by the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi.
Her decision follows intense public backlash and mounting pressure for Gyamfi’s suspension.
A video circulating on social media shows Gyamfi handing what appears to be US dollars to the controversial preacher, prompting strong criticism, especially from Minority Members of Parliament, who have labelled the act inappropriate and unbecoming of a public official.
In a live broadcast on Instagram, Nana Agradaa addressed the issue directly, pledging not only to refund the money but to do so in double measure.
“I will return the $800 and even double it. I will do my best to find his office, and I will go there with my camera and show it to Ghanaians that I have returned the money,” she declared.
The former traditional priestess, now a self-proclaimed preacher, expressed concern that the incident could jeopardise Gyamfi’s career and said her conscience would not allow her to remain silent.
“This is my mantle, my Bible, and my anointing oil, as a great woman of God, and I say that I will set my church on fire if I am the reason Sammy will lose his job. Because the Bible said we should do good to everybody, the Bible did not discriminate when it said that. So, if Sammy Gyamfi gives me money, he deserves to do that,” she stated emphatically.
Meanwhile, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of exploiting the incident for political gain.
