Womba Africa Drumming and Dance, a traditional cultural troupe from Ghana, is set to tour the United Kingdom later this year. Known for their dynamic performances and use of indigenous instruments, the troupe brings to life the rich heritage of West African music and dance through original compositions and energetic stagecraft.
The name "Womba" translates to "We are coming" in Ga, a local Ghanaian dialect. Staying true to this declaration, the group continues to draw attention internationally for their engaging and immersive showcases. The upcoming UK tour, scheduled for September and October 2025, will feature a range of activities focused on traditional drumming and dance.
From September 18 to 20, Womba Africa will host a cultural workshop and training program at the Lewsey Community Centre, Landrace Road, Luton LU4 0SW. The event will explore the history and evolution of various dance styles, present traditional Ghanaian costumes and instruments, and include storytelling sessions. Participants will also receive practical instruction in dance techniques and other interactive cultural experiences.

Two live concerts are also planned as part of the tour. The first will take place on September 27 at the Lewsey Community Centre in Luton. The second concert is scheduled for October 4 at The Plough, 74 West Street, Farnham GU9 7EH. Both events are set to begin at 6:00 PM.
Felix Nii Okai Nummello, the group’s manager, highlighted the extensive preparation behind the tour and shared the team’s enthusiasm. “A lot of preparation is ongoing and we are surely going to make Africa proud on this tour,” he said.
Womba Africa's tour offers audiences in the UK an opportunity to engage with authentic elements of Ghanaian cultural expression. With traditional drumming, dance, and storytelling at its core, the tour aims to foster cultural appreciation and exchange through live performance and education.
