Seven students from Lawra Senior High School are feared dead after their boat capsized on the Black Volta River at Dikpe while attempting to cross into Burkina Faso.
The tragic incident occurred during what was supposed to be a routine morning jogging session.
According to reports, ten students had gone for their morning exercise but unexpectedly decided to travel to Burkina Faso.

Their boat overturned mid-journey, plunging all occupants into the river.
Three students were rescued alive, while a search operation is currently underway for the remaining seven, whose conditions remain unknown.

Local authorities and responders have mobilised to locate the missing students, with divers combing the river.
The Black Volta’s strong currents have complicated rescue efforts, raising fears that the students may have drowned.
