The Volta River Authority (VRA) emerged as a standout institution at the 7th Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Summit & Awards 2025 held in Lagos, Nigeria, from July 3–5.
The Authority earned three prestigious honours that highlight its leadership and innovation in public procurement across the continent.

VRA was awarded Excellence in Vendor Engagement for its supplier-led approach to procurement, made possible through the deployment of Oracle Fusion.
This digital platform allows vendors to register independently and participate in procurement processes, significantly improving transparency, accessibility, and trust in the system.
The Authority also took home the coveted Procurement Team of the Year award (Silver), in recognition of its structured and digitised procurement framework.
The team has demonstrated an exceptional ability to align procurement activities with national regulatory frameworks while incorporating internal controls and long-term project planning.

This strategic approach has ensured value for money, sustainability, and operational efficiency across procurement operations.
Adding to the Authority’s accolades, Jacob Fosu-Kyei, Director of Procurement, was named Africa’s Innovative Public Procurement Leader of the Year.
This personal honour celebrates his visionary leadership in championing governance-driven reforms, enforcing compliance, and driving the digital transformation of procurement processes within VRA.
His contributions have not only enhanced internal efficiency but also positioned VRA as a model of public procurement excellence in the region.

These recognitions reflect VRA’s commitment to innovation, transparency, and continuous improvement.
With a focus on long-term value creation and stakeholder accountability, the Authority continues to set the standard for effective public procurement in Africa, aligning fully with the summit’s theme: “Strengthening Public Procurement Governance & Compliance.”
