Ambassador of Morocco to Ghana, Her Excellency Ms Imane Ouaadil, has paid a courtesy call on Ghana's Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, to formally introduce herself and also reaffirm her country’s commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship between Morocco and Ghana and to support Ghana’s green agenda.
She expressed her country’s willingness to establish an ultramodern fertilizer production plant to support government’s green transition programme to help minimize the environmental impact associated with traditional fertilizer production, which often relies on fossil fuels.
Ms Imane Ouaadil said using renewable energy sources like solar, wind, or hydropower to create green ammonia which is a key ingredient in many fertilizers, will help the renewable energy sector’s objective growing Ghana’s renewable energy potential.
On his part, John Jinapor commended Morocco and the Ambassador for such initiative to support Ghana, adding that his Ministry is giving more attention to renewable energy production because they are seeking to wean the country off liquid fuel which is expensive and difficult to purchase.
He directed that a joint working group comprising of the Moroccans and the Ghanaian counterparts to be chaired by the Deputy Minister Richard Gyan-Mensah be formed to share information on the project to ensure its smooth roll out.
The Minister further requested the a for formal letter of intent be written to him to make the proposal formal and easier for government to facilitate.
He welcomed Her Excellency Ms Imane Ouaadil and pledged government support to her and Morrocco to deepen and advancing mutual interest for the benefit of both countries.
