The Institute of Directors-Ghana (IoD-Gh) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, claiming the lives of eight distinguished Ghanaians whose dedication to national service was both exemplary and inspiring.
A statement signed by Mary Asare-Yeboah, President and Chair of the 11th Governing Council of the institute, described the incident as a heartbreaking national tragedy that has “cast a dark shadow over our nation.”
On behalf of its Governing Council, members, and secretariat, IoD-Gh extended heartfelt condolences to the Government of Ghana, the bereaved families, the Ghana Armed Forces, political institutions, and all citizens affected.
The victims of the crash included two Ministers of State, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defense, and Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, as well as Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress; Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director General of NADMO and former Parliamentary Candidate; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala Flying Officer Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
“Their contributions to peace, security, governance, and democratic development will not be forgotten,” the statement read, adding that the passing of these patriots represents not just a personal loss to their families and communities, but a profound loss to the entire nation.
As an institution committed to promoting ethical leadership, good governance, and national development, IoD-Gh affirmed its solidarity with the people of Ghana during this period of mourning, praying for comfort, strength, and healing for the bereaved families and the nation at large.
