The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has received military protective gear valued at over one million dollars from the United States Government to support female personnel on peacekeeping missions.
The package, presented at the Command Mess, Burma Camp on Wednesday, comprises female body armour under the Women’s Body Armour Quadrilateral Pilot Project.
The project is a 2023 initiative by Ghana, Zambia, the Netherlands and the US to enhance the safety and effectiveness of female soldiers.

Rolf Olson, Charge d’Affaires at the US Embassy, said the donation would strengthen Ghana’s female peacekeepers as they served in Africa and beyond.
He extended condolences to the GAF over the loss of three air force personnel in the August 6 tragic helicopter crash.
Major General Lawrence Gbetanu, Chief of Army Staff, described the donation as recognition of the vital role Ghanaian women played in global peacekeeping.
He said the gesture marked a milestone in the longstanding relations and defence cooperation between Ghana and the United States, assuring that the gear would be put to effective use.
