The Deputy Ranking Member on Employment, Labour Relations and Pensions and Member of Parliament for Suhum, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, has extended his sensitisation campaign against opioid and substance abuse to Akorabo.
On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the MP, together with the Committee on Opioid and Substance Abuse, engaged stakeholders in the Akorabo Zone. Chiefs and elders, clergy, Muslim leaders, artisans, driver unions, and okada riders all took part in the discussions.
The team first called on the chiefs and elders before meeting the other groups.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Asiedu Bekoe explained that his decision to champion this campaign was influenced by worrying cases he had observed at the Suhum Government Hospital.

He stressed that opioid and substance abuse posed a major threat to the future of the youth and called on all stakeholders to join hands to combat the menace.
Health professionals on the committee took participants through the devastating effects of substance abuse on individuals, families, and the wider community.

Stakeholders in Akorabo welcomed the initiative warmly. They expressed appreciation to the MP for his commitment and accessibility and pledged to support the campaign to ensure its success.
