The Ashanti regional security council is launching a full-scale investigation into the circumstances that led to the killing of an assembly member at Amansie West District in the Ashanti Region.
Assembly member of Aboabo, Samuel Danquah, was killed in an altercation between residents of Mpatuam and security officers of Asanko mines.
Two others sustained various gunshot wounds, fueling the anger of the community folks and set ablaze a 28-million-dollar worth of equipment of a subcontractor of Asanko Mine.

The regional security council, led by the regional minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, met with community members and leadership on Friday for mediation talks.
The aggrieved youth clad in red wielded placards with some written on them, “Asanko Soldiers must go!” as they vent their displeasure at the killings of the community folks.
But the minister, Dr. Amoakohene, assured the government’s commitment to probe the matter while he commiserated with the bereaved families.
“President Mahama says that he will do everything in his power to enforce the laws of our country to ensure such tragic incidents will not occur in the future. On behalf of the President, we extend our sympathy to the family of the deceased, and we will make sure that thorough investigations are made to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended,” he noted.
