Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has petitioned the Head of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Dr Rosemond Wilson.
In his formal letter dated Monday, September 15, he is seeking redress for candidates of Pentecost Private School, Abrepo, whose Integrated Science results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) were reportedly withheld or cancelled.
The MP indicated that the petition came from the school’s headmaster, management committee, parents, and affected candidates.
They claim that the Integrated Science results were withheld on allegations of collusion.
Following the initial withholding, parents and candidates were reportedly invited to the WAEC Regional Office in August 2025 for inquiries.
The petitioners maintain that the candidates worked independently and were given assurances that a final decision would be communicated to them.
However, on September 12, they were informed that the results had been cancelled, an action which has caused significant distress and uncertainty about their educational future.
On behalf of his constituents, the Bantama MP appealed to WAEC to urgently review the decision and reinstate the cancelled results to enable the affected students to secure placements in senior high schools.
As an alternative, he requested that arrangements be made for the candidates to re-sit the exams at the earliest possible opportunity.
Highlighting the urgency of the matter, Mr Boakye-Boakye noted that school placements are scheduled to be released on September 17.
“Given the emotional impact on the children and the looming deadlines for SHS placement, I kindly request that this matter be given your earliest and most sympathetic attention,” he stated in the petition.
