New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Director aspirant, Gordon Asare-Bediako, has withdrawn his bid for the position and endorsed fellow contender Dennis Miracles Aboagye.
Mr Asare-Bediako announced the decision in a Facebook post on Sunday, August 23, 2026, explaining that it followed extensive consultations with his family, friends and key stakeholders within the party.
According to him, the decision was taken after careful consideration of what would best serve the NPP.
He said although his desire to lead the party’s communications team remained strong, he had concluded that unity was more important than pursuing individual ambitions.
“That desire has not diminished, but I have come to the firm conviction that our party’s interest is best served by unity of purpose, not a division of energies,” he said.
Mr Asare-Bediako subsequently pledged his “full and unreserved support” to Dennis Aboagye and called on his supporters and delegates to back his candidature.
He described Mr Aboagye as “battle-tested”, citing his communication abilities, strategic depth and experience in frontline advocacy for the NPP.
He expressed confidence that Mr Aboagye would strengthen the party’s communications machinery and make it more effective.
“I have no doubt that under his leadership, the NPP’s communication front will be sharper, louder, and more effective than ever before,” he said.
Mr Asare-Bediako further urged party delegates to put the NPP’s broader objective ahead of individual aspirations, stressing that the ultimate goal should be to return the party to power.
“Our mission is bigger than any individual ambition: it is the retrieval of power for the New Patriotic Party and the restoration of hope for the good people of Ghana,” he added.
