It was a fiercely contested battle among Ghana SHS, Koforidua; University Practice SHS; and Winneba SHS in the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ, one that kept the audience on edge from start to finish.
University Practice SHS set the tone early, leading the first round with 18 points, followed closely by Ghana SHS, Koforidua with 16, while Winneba SHS trailed with 12 points.
The Cape Coast-based school continued their fine form in the speed race, widening their lead to 25 points, with Ghana SHS close behind at 22 and Winneba at 11 points.

The Problem of the Day proved tricky for both Ghana SHS and Winneba SHS, who scored nothing, while University Practice managed 5 out of 10.
In the True or False round, University Practice stayed consistent, maintaining their lead.
The riddles round added late drama as Winneba SHS impressively solved the last three riddles, but it was not enough to change the outcome.
At the end of the contest, University Practice SHS emerged winners with 43 points, Ghana SHS, Koforidua followed with 38, and Winneba SHS earned 30 points.
This victory marks University Practice SHS’s first time reclaiming a seeded spot since 2015 — a long-awaited comeback in the National Science and Maths Quiz.
