The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the temporary suspension of the recruitment exercise in Greater Accra following the tragic stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, which left six applicants dead and several others injured.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, GAF stated that the suspension will allow for the implementation of additional measures to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the exercise.
"A Board of Inquiry has been constituted to unravel the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident," the statement read.
However, GAF noted that the recruitment process in the other 15 regions of the country will continue as scheduled.
The Armed Forces expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused to the general public, particularly the affected applicants, and assured that new dates for the resumption of the Greater Accra exercise will be communicated in due course.
