Dr Kojo Asante, Director of Policy Advocacy and Engagement at CDD-Ghana, has said popular private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu’s demand for the dismissal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, is an act of “hypocrisy”.
He believes that Mr Kpebu's actions underscore a wider pushback against independent accountability mechanisms. He argued on Channel One TV on Saturday, December 6.
According to him "It is incredulous to hear the Majority Leader and members of the sitting government say that the OSP should be abolished, when the same government insists we need to address corruption and hold people accountable. Then you have an office like the OSP that allows you to take on even members of your own government. Martin Kpebu’s case is the hypocrisy of it that really worries me.”

His comments come in response to Mr Kpebu’s demand for the dismissal of Mr Agyebeng, which he justified with claims of corruption and alleged procedural lapses in inquiries relating to former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
Mr Kpebu has further alleged that the Special Prosecutor has singled him out for personal attacks.
