An Accra High Court has adjourned proceedings in the case involving Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, due to illegible prosecution documents.
The Prosecution was expected to commence the Case Management Conference (CMC), but the process stalled when it began in the absence of lead defence counsel, Mr Andy Appiah-Kubi.
The Court heard that other members of the defence team raised objections to some documents to be tendered, stating that they were not readable.
The Court consequently ordered the Prosecution to furnish it with clear and legible copies of the affected documents.
The Prosecution informed the Court that in addition to 19 exhibits already before it, the State intended to rely on 80 additional documents.
The matter was adjourned to December 16, 2025.
Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is standing trial for alleged illegal mining activities and assigning mineral rights without ministerial approval at Samreboi in the Western Region in 2022.
He has been jointly charged with Akonta Mining Limited, his company, and Kwame Antwi, a co-director, who is currently at large.
The accused has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently on bail in the sum of GH¢15 million.
