The Headmaster of Jachie-Pramso Senior High School, Benjamin Kye-Ampadu, has attributed the school’s strong academic performance to strict discipline and effective student monitoring systems.

Speaking at the school’s 55th Anniversary Speech and Prize Giving Day in Bosomtwe, Mr Kye-Ampadu said discipline remains the cornerstone of the institution’s success. He noted that students are constantly supervised and supported through counselling to help them stay focused on their studies.

“Discipline plays a vital role in shaping students’ success. To foster a conducive learning environment, our school has set up a disciplinary committee and counselling unit,” he said. “These teams work tirelessly to guide students and ensure they stay on track.”

He added that management has intensified efforts to prevent security risks on campus, amid reports of students in some schools bringing dangerous items onto school premises.

“We have taken note of disturbing trends where students have been found with firearms in some schools, and we are redoubling our efforts to prevent such dangers here,” he stated. “We aim to nurture responsible individuals who will make a positive impact.”

Despite the school’s academic and extracurricular achievements, the headmaster said Jachie-Pramso SHS is grappling with major infrastructural challenges that threaten its progress.

He disclosed that several projects, including an administration block, assembly hall, and dining hall, are nearing completion, with some up to 80 per cent done, but have stalled due to funding constraints. He also highlighted the urgent need for additional toilet facilities to improve sanitation on campus.

Mr. Kye-Ampadu therefore appealed to the government, corporate bodies, and philanthropists to support the school. He stressed that timely intervention would help sustain quality teaching and learning.

Responding to the appeal, the District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, Hamid Abdullah, pledged to facilitate the completion of the projects under the government’s legacy infrastructure initiative.

Meanwhile, former Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, urged parents to actively guide their children and encourage them to respect teachers and prioritise education.

He said strong parental support would motivate students to work harder and prepare them for future success. As an old student of the school, Dr. Adutwum also encouraged learners to make good use of available facilities to enhance their academic performance.

The anniversary celebration was held under the theme, “Empowering the Youth for the Future: The Role of Stakeholders,” and was fully sponsored by the school’s old students. The event featured awards for outstanding teachers, non-teaching staff, and students, as well as a homecoming for alumni.

Several traditional, religious, and political leaders attended the ceremony, including Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, Chief of Jachie and Otumfuo’s Akyeame Panyin; Nana Gyampon-Tuah II, Chief of Pramso; and Right Reverend Stephen Kwaku Owusu, Kumasi Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana.

Also present was the Board Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Prof. Joseph Oteng-Agyei, and other senior government officials.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Dr. William Amankra Appiah, commended the school’s management for maintaining high academic and moral standards over the years. He said the senior high school system is designed to promote holistic education that prepares students for employment, entrepreneurship, and responsible citizenship.

He further called on stakeholders to work closely with school authorities to ensure the effective management and continuous development of the institution.
