Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to steering the party back to power in the 2028 general elections.
He pledged on Wednesday, February 11, during a visit by some party delegates to his private residence, where they conveyed their support and confidence in his leadership.
“You have saved the party by your action. Because the message is gone, and in 2028, they cannot use the same message against us; it will rather give us strength,” he said.
He vowed to devote himself wholeheartedly to the party’s cause.
“I want to assure you that because you have imposed your confidence in me, I will work at all times to ensure that we win power in 2028. I will not sleep. I will work day and night to ensure that I bring the power to the NPP,” Dr Bawumia stated.
He emphasised that party unity would be crucial for electoral success, noting that the NPP possessed the numerical strength to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if members united behind a common agenda.
“When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC, and so all we need is unity. In 2024, our members didn’t vote. So, if we are able to bring everybody on board, we can win,” he said.
Dr Bawumia described the party’s efforts as entering a new phase and called on supporters to remain committed and take an active role in the rebuilding process.
“Our task is clear. At this time, we are moving to phase two. So I want to plead with you all to assist us in this fight,” he emphasised.
