Andrea Dede Ayew will snub a return to Olympic Marseille in order to boost his international career, he has revealed.
The Ghana U-20 captain was told by the French giants he should look for a new club in August after Didier Deschamps ruled he did not figure in his plans.
And while his legendary father Abedi suggested at the height of the Fifa Under-20 World Cup that his boy will be able to thrive at Marseille the youngster is not prepared to return to a club who he feels humiliated him.
Dede failed to secure a move to Hertha Berlin as Marseille sought buyers before he was taken on loan by Arles-Avignon. But after playing a central role in Ghana’s historic U-20 world cup win, the Stade Velladrome outfit is singing a different tune.
Marseille sports director Jose Anigo says “he is a very good player and he can’t be transferred unless we receive an exceptional for him. He is part of a great future for Marseille and will be part of the team in June.”
But Dede feels his future lies away from Marseille. “For me Marseille gave me permission to leave in August, he told Skysports. I am an ambitious player and playing on loan at Arle-Avignon has brought my level down even if it is in Ligue 2.”
“I am really excited about this year and I want to be involved in the African Nations Cup and the World Cup, where my country has a great chance of doing well. If I don’t play week-in, week out I cannot go to those two tournaments, which are huge for my young career.”
