A member of Asante Kotoko’s management team, Sarfo Gyamfi, has denied allegations the club’s management has directed coach Paa Kwesi Faibin to submit his team selection for approval before matches.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s sports morning show in reaction to the allegation carried by the Sports Fylla newspaper, Sarfo Gyamfi, otherwise called The Black President in football circles, said it is unheard of that a coach of Paa Kwesi’s caliber would be subjected to such humiliation.
It has never happened, he said, announcing also that the management cannot engage in such a prank.
While maintaining that the coach has free hands to do his job, he said the management and the coach have agreed to transfer a number of players in order to trim the size of the playing body.
According to Sarfo Gyamfi, ahead of Paa Kwesi’s signing just before the premier league kicked off, the management had planned to transfer-list about five players to keep the team size at 35 players, however Paa Kwesi opted to keep it trim at 30, and an announcement of which players will go, will come at the end of the first round of the league.
Asante Kotoko have managed only a win out of five league games, drawing three and losing the other to Liberty Professionals. The club lies at 11th on the league table and the ever expectant floowers of the club are agitated over the results and calling for heads to roll.
