Sulley Muntari has been confirmed as fit to play in Ghana’s opening World Cup game against Serbia.
The Inter midfielder’s fitness had been in doubt after sustaining an injury in a friendly with Holland. Muntari had missed the most recent warm-up games and had been forced to train alone.
The Ghana FA issued a statement on their official website.
"The midfielder has recovered from a thigh injury," the statement read.
Muntari is now in contention to start against Serbia, allaying Ghanaian fears that the midfielder would add to their injury list which features the influential Michael Essien.
The Black Stars have high hopes at the first ever World Cup played on African soil and the Ghanaian FA remain confident that Muntari will be fit to play against Serbia.
“Muntari played himself into contention for a starting place in the Ghana team against Serbia after training normally with the Black Stars squad in Rustenburg,” the Ghanaian FA concluded.
