Chief Executive Officer of Bechem United, Kingsley Osei Bonsu, believes referees officiating in the ongoing league are not treated fairly.
Referee William Agbovi has been banned for eight matches for failing to award a penalty to Wa All Stars in the matchday 10 fixture against
Medeama SC while referee Alex Nsiah who officiated Bechem United’s win over Wa All Stars was also banned six matches for awarding Bechem United a late penalty.
These bans have led Osei Bonsu to jump to the defence of referees
“We don’t perform very well in our away matches but since we are an average club I think we have done well in our home matches but I don’t understand why a club like Bechem United will win against Wa All Stars and the referee will be banned for six matches,” he told Asempa Sports.
“I am not trying to speak in favor of referees but there has been certain decisions that has been taken by the review panel which has not been fair.”
“It is not understandable because a referee has been banned eight matches and punished simply because he has awarded a penalty and I don’t want to conclude that the review panel are doing all this because of Wa All Stars.”
“The management of Wa All Stars wrote to the PLB and came out boldly to defend the referee who officiated their league match against the Techiman City saying the referee has done very well but I told Oduro Nyarko that they are certain decisions of the referees they should be careful with it.”
