David Duncan has flatly told Kotoko that he will not accept to be paid out of contract, but would rather wait until the remainder of his deal.

The coach's two-year deal that saw him succeed Mas-Ud Dramani as head coach started well but completely became a shambles, finishing with the club asking him to step aside early April.

Duncan, who had been inactive since Hearts of Oak terminated his contract in November 2013, has not spoken since these incidents, instead choosing to speak through his legal counsel.

Joy Sports understands that the the former Ghana U23 coach met with Kotoko officials who announced an intention to pay him off with a five-month salary.

But the coach would not agree. 

Duncan gave officials two options: that he be reinstated as head coach or be paid his monthly salary until his deal expires. Duncan clarified his stance by saying he preferred to 'stay aside' and await their decision on whether to sack him, officially, or otherwise.

It is thought that Duncan will begin legal proceedings against the club should they refuse to pay him for the duration of his deal. This is because, for Duncan, he is still officially the coach of the club until he is officially otherwise noted.

Should that happen, and because he has not been of poor behaviour, he would be entitled to a severance fee, something Kotoko are thought to be unwilling to pay. 

At the time he was asked to step aside, Kotoko had managed just five points from a potential 18.
