Youth and Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuaye has expressed displeasure with the Ghana Football Association after failed to inform him about an international friendly between the Local Black Stars and Japan U23 a fortnight ago.
Coach Maxwell Konadu led an 18-man squad to Japan to play the friendly primarily to raise funds and also to give the Japanese team the needed test ahead of their participation in the Rio Olympics football event.
Nii Lantey argues that his outfit must be briefed on the importance and financial benefits of these international friendlies involving the national teams.
“I will say it clearly that I want the right thing be done, I will not allow anyone to disrespect my position,” he told Kumasi based Nhyira FM
“If somebody offends the law, the law will deal with the person –so if the GFA decides that they will not inform us anytime they are going to have a friendly international for the Black Stars or any of the national teams –I really don’t believe they will do that.”
“If it was hindsight I have reminded them (GFA) my letter has gone to them and I have indicated to them my displeasure about the action they took and I don’t think they would want to do that by having problems with me because I would not want to have problems with them.”
