The Minister of Energy, Mr Joseph Adda, has dared Ghanaians to give the ruling New Patriotic Party 19 more years in power to experience sound energy and economic policies.Speaking to Joy News to disclose the arrival of an additional power generating plant, Mr Adda was of the view that but for the prudent policies of the government it would have been difficult to acquire most of the emergency plants.“Ghanaians should appreciate the fact that many countries…are going through load shedding. The problem is global…God willing long before we get to the election year we would see a lot more power than perhaps we need in this country. If Ghanaians really want to test, give the NPP 19 years like they gave P/NDC 19 years and they will see the difference,” he promised. The power plant is to augment the energy supply in the country.Mr Adda told Joy News the 20 Megawatts plant arrived in the country last week. It will bring the total amount of power added to the national grid since the energy crisis started in August last year to 90 megawatts. But it falls short of the 136 megawatts government promised in May to immediately ease the energy shortfall.Mr. Adda remained confident that the measures taken by government so far should end the crisis by the September 2007 deadline.“Government has made the funds available and the engineers are working hard to install the machines, test and commission them…I want to assure all Ghanaians that government is very concerned and fully committed but it takes time,” he said.
