Medeama Technical Director Evans Adotey has rubbised increasing reports that midfielder Malik Akowuah is close to sealing a move to Hearts of Oak.
Akowuah has been key in the team's run to the group stage of the Caf Confederations Cup but has, for reasons yet unclear, missed the Medeama’s last two matches. This has heightened speculation that a deal with the Phobians is closed.
Adotey said, "I have no idea where these reports linking Malik with Hearts have come from but what I can say is that Malik is still in the system and he is still in the camp of Medeama."
"It comes down to receiving orders from my CEO Moses Armah that the player has been transfer listed but nothing of this sort has happened. He is a valuable player to us and we need him around.
“His knowledge of the game and the manner in which he is able to coach his teammates on the pitch makes a valuable asset. I will be sad to see him leave but for now he is still a Medeama player,” Adotey told reporters.
Ahead of the second round of the season's top flight, Hearts have been looking to build in key areas and have confirmed their interest in the player.
Medeama are said to have put a hefty tag on the former Hasaacas and AshGold man, as they are unwilling to let him go.
