Medeama SC could be denied the use of the Essipong Stadium for their Caf confederation cup group stage campaign following electricity and several problems confronting the facility.
The venue could be deemed not fit to host continental matches due to the current state of the stadium.
Electricity supply to the venue has been cut off, the media centre, mixed zone and places of convenience are in shambolic state with no internet connection.
CAF inspectors have warned the stadium will not be allowed to host the continental matches if the venue is not fixed in time.
Thus, the Tarkwa based team, through their Deputy Communications director Patrick Akoto, is calling on the Sports Ministry to get the venue in top shape ahead of the side's first home game against Algerian side MO Bejaia on June 29.
“We are hopeful that the ministry of youth and sports will come to our aid to get the venue ready for us,” Akoto said.
“There are issues of getting electricity to the stadium for a year now, electricity at the Essipong stadium has been cut, the water situation is at a very sorry situation at the moment, internet WIFI’s and other petty issues which needs to be addressed.”
“But we are confident that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will act swiftly and ensure that venue is ready to host the rest of Africa.”
Medeama have been drawn alongside TP Mazembe, MO Bejaia and Young Africans.
