Ghana coach Avram Grant is hoping debutant Thomas Partey can prove himself for the Black Stars after giving him his first call up.
The Israeli coach confirmed the youngster had been on his radar for some time and felt it was time to give Partey a chance to prove his worth.
After completing his first training session with, Grant was adamant he was not going to judge the midfielder but hoped he can excel for the team.
“We don’t judge a player after one training even if they are good or bad,” Grant told reporters after the game.
“I have followed Partey for a long time. He is a young player who did well for Atletico anytime he played and Atletico is a good team.”
“We followed him and deserved to be in the national team. We hope he can prove himself.”
"He is developing as a footballer all the time and, although young, has strength, movement and can play between the lines."
Partey made 13 appearances last season for Champions League finalists Atletico, making three starts.
