A circuit court at Elmina presided over by Mr. Stephen Tabiri has remanded a 41-year-old fisherman into prison custody for assaulting a teacher.
Kwame Boabeng who pleaded not guilty will be re-arraigned on Thursday October 21.
Chief Inspector K. Wiredu, prosecuting, told the court that on Thursday October 5, the complainant Mr Felix Eshun, a teacher at Elmina Catholic Boys Primary School gave his pupils exercises to do.
He said while the children were busy with the work Boabeng's son and another child were disturbing the class.
Chief Inspector Wiredu said the complainant informed the Headmistress about the conduct of the children and he was advised to cane them at the buttocks.
He said after the punishment, the son of the accused went home and informed him about the punishment, compelling Boabeng to rush to the school and mercilessly beat the complainant.
Chief Inspector Wiredu said the situation caught the attention of the headmistress and other teachers who intervened to rescue the complainant from further attacks.
He said a complaint was made to the Police and Boabeng was arrested after investigation.
