Six students sustained minor injuries after attempting to extinguish a fire that engulfed a House Master's apartment at Leklebi Senior High School in the Volta Region, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has said.
In a Facebook post shared by the Serrvice, the fire broke out on Tuesday, July 21, prompting a swift response from firefighters at the Hohoe Fire Station.

According to the GNFS, a distress call was received at 4:21 p.m., after which a firefighting crew under the supervision of the Hohoe Municipal Fire Commander, DO III Bismark Hosu-Porbley, was immediately dispatched to the school.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the House Master's top-floor apartment completely engulfed in flames.
The crew promptly began firefighting operations and succeeded in bringing the blaze under control before it could spread to other parts of the school.

The Ghana National Fire Service said six male students sustained minor injuries while trying to put out the fire before firefighters arrived at the scene.
The students were among eight people who required medical attention following the incident.

According to the Service, a male and a female occupant of the affected apartment also collapsed after learning of the fire.
All eight individuals received treatment and were subsequently discharged from hospital.

No deaths were recorded.
The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed.
